Job Description:

Job Title: Digital Forensics Lab Technician

Job Overview:
As a Lab Technician in our Digital Forensics practice, you will be assisting in the implementation of the most efficient and defensible methods to collect data from both traditional and diversified sources for preservation, review, analysis and reporting while using the most advanced eDiscovery tools in the market. The role requires sufficient technical skill to understand and address data file issues, identify and navigate network problems, and diagnose issues. You will work closely with a team of digital forensics experts to support investigations and provide technical expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct forensic examinations on various digital devices, such as computers, mobile phone, tablets and storage media, to identify, collect and analyze relevant evidence
  • Utilize specialized software and tools to extract, recover and analyze digital data, including deleted files, internet history, emails and social media activity
  • Document and maintain detailed records of all forensic procedures, techniques and findings in accordance with established protocols and standards
  • Assist in the preparation of comprehensive forensic reports and presentations summarizing findings and conclusions
  • Provide timely responses to engagement leads
  • Work on multiple ongoing engagements/projects
  • Assist in other related areas of the company as needed or required
  • Complete annual training and certification as required

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Effective communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Detail oriented, thorough and process driven
  • Able to focus on and perform routine tasks with a high degree of accuracy
  • Highly organized and flexible
  • Able to multitask and meet changing deadlines
  • Must be able to complete projects with limited supervision
  • Capable of following forensically sound processes
  • Able to recognize and escalate potential issues
  • Professional demeanor and motivated self-starter
  • Team player

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior eDiscovery experience in Law Firms or Corporate Legal Department.
  • One or more industry standard forensic certifications such as: Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE), Certified Forensic Examiner (GCFE), EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), AccessData Certified Examiner (ACE), Certified Computer Examiner (CCE), or EC-Council, ISACA, (ISC)2, & GIAC related forensic certifications
  • Experience with computer networking and network traffic analysis preferred.
  • Experience with writing scripts in Python.
  • Experience with collecting cloud and CRM data.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Crowe, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $63,000.00 - $113,400.00 per year.
