Welder II

Purpose:


  • Valkyrie Enterprises is looking for welders who will play a key role in welding on Naval Ships on our CVN Project.
  • The job is located in Silverdale, WA.


Job Description:


  • Reads and interpret blueprints, schematics, and rough sketches. Use drawings and specifications to plan welding operations.
  • Ensures that work is in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Provides a variety of skilled welding on steel and aluminum plate, shapes, and CS/ CuNi / NiCu / pipe in the repair of/or alteration of vessels and associated equipment.
  • Locates and marks reference lines, such as center, buttock, and frame lines.
  • Fabricates templates for bending, shaping, and bracing metal structures.
  • Conducts set-up and use of portable burning/heating torches and plasma cutters.
  • Will act as mentors to junior welders in drawing interpretation, joint design requirements, specific welding technique (mirror welding) and processes.
  • Oversees the progression of junior welder workmanship inspectors.
  • Willing to learn documentation of fit-up, welds and workmanship inspections.


Qualifications:


  • Must have a Highschool diploma or GED.
  • Must have Trade School with 5+ years of experience in the field.
  • Must pass weld qualifications (2G, 3G, & 4G) SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), Process GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) process.
  • Must meet NAVSEA 248 requirements by passing MIL-STD 1689 T9074-AR-GIB-010-278 Weld Workmanship requirements.


Desired Qualifications:


  • Ability to obtain passport is preferred.
  • Previous welding certification and experience with GMAW Aluminum and SMAW is strongly preferred.
  • Previous brazing experience preferred.
  • Previous TIG experience preferred.
  • Previous FCAW experience is preferred.


Security Requirements:


  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance to access private and public shipyards and Naval Installations


Travel Requirements:


  • Up to 50% travel nationwide to include international travel as needed
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 20 pounds.
  • Must be physically agile to perform tasks in naval ships. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces, including enter and moving through manholes.
  • May ride ships at sea for extended periods
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
  • Frequent exposure to noise due to machinery and equipment.
  • Employee is required to operate trucks, forklifts & man-lifts
  • While performing the duties of this job, you may frequently be required to stand, walk & sit; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, squat, kneel, twist and crawl.
  • Work in extreme temperatures and conditions. At times you will work in areas that have less adequate ventilation
  • Frequent use of respirator.

Pay Range: $27 - $31 per hour
