THE POSITION

The Office of Crisis Intervention/Information & Referral, provides vital support to all residents of Lehigh County who are experiencing a mental health emergency with the purpose of accessing treatment, recovery, and ultimately an improved quality of life. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this moderately complex bilingual clerical position, you will provide support to both caseworkers and supervisory staff. Duties include but are not limited to answering phones, distributing incoming mail, scanning, filing, providing assistance at the reception window, and data entry. In this important role, you will be assisting Integrated Services Staff (Children's Mental Health, CASSP, LEP Coordinator) and the Information & Referral and Crisis Intervention Office with interpretation and translation of documents in English and Spanish. This may occur in the office or in the field. Communication is key as you will answer questions, communicate with other DHS offices, and problem solve at the DHS lobby reception window in addition to answering phone lines for other units. You can expect to attend computer and other related human services training as required. Work involves attending, recording, typing and distributing meeting minutes from the bi-monthly Crisis Intervention meetings. As needed, you will have the opportunity to provide clerical support to the Crisis Intervention/ I&R and DHS High Density File Room.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or
  • Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or
  • Any combination of equivalent experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position requires the selected candidate to be able to read, write , and speak in Spanish. You may be contacted for a Spanish speaking proficiency evaluation conducted by the Bureau of Talent Acquisition, PA Office of Administration. If contacted, you must pass the speaking evaluation in order to be deemed eligible for this position. Your proficiency in reading and writing in Spanish must be demonstrated during the probationary period to achieve regular status in the position.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
