Brief Description:

The Dedicated Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and direct customer support by managing accounts, monitoring product performance, and driving product development initiatives. This role plays a key part in ensuring Ulterra's drilling solutions meet or exceed customer expectations through application analysis, field engagement, and engineering collaboration.

The Dedicated Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and will closely collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Operations teams.

Detailed Description:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with assigned customer accounts, serving as a technical point of contact.
  • Maintain a high level of technical knowledge to support customer operations, including well programs, hydraulic programs, cost analysis, and bottom-hole assembly (BHA) recommendations.
  • Identify benchmark bits for specific applications and evaluate comparative bit performance across runs.
  • Maintain and prioritize a product development list to address performance opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyze competitor performance in various drilling environments.
  • Document strategy and bit performance by observing and analyzing dull bits.
  • Provide technical analysis and support to the sales team and customer presentations.
  • Deliver clear and data-driven operating parameter recommendations for Ulterra products.
  • Interface regularly with the Engineering Department to communicate field performance and customer feedback.
  • Collaborate to ensure that bits produced align with customer drilling needs.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and ensure on-time product shipments to customers.
  • Support training of new sales personnel on technical products and application insights.
  • Assist in generating sales reports and contributing to forecasts as required.
  • Support the collections process by assisting in accounts receivables when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to influence, negotiate, and lead customer-facing initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in delivering technical presentations.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Effective team player with a proactive attitude and customer-first mindset.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to customer locations and field sites.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 2+ years of industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working directly with customers in a technical sales or engineering support capacity.
  • Familiarity with drilling programs, bit design, and performance benchmarking tools.
  • Proficiency in technical analysis tools and reporting software.

Additional Details:

The Dedicated Engineer must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
