Associate Mechanical Engineer

You will apply your technical expertise on pumps, turbines, motors, and related systems while supporting maintenance strategies and influencing budget decisions through life cycle cost analysis. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including production, maintenance, engineering, and third-party vendors—to align priorities and deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable operations. To succeed as the Associate Mechanical Engineer, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a related manufacturing industry; refining or petrochemical experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with maintenance and reliability practices, including RCM, MOC, risk assessment, and industry codes/standards for rotating and static equipment.
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) preferred.

 

An Associate Mechanical Engineer’s responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, conduct field walkthroughs, and support stabilization after upsets.
  • Lead reliability initiatives, manage threats and opportunities, and implement maintenance strategies for both fixed and rotating equipment.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC), uphold industry standards in equipment design changes, and implement process safety recommendations.
  • Conduct root cause analyses, reduce waste using LEAN methods, and champion causal reasoning within the team.
  • Contribute to business and maintenance planning, manage mechanical scopes in projects and turnarounds, and ensure work is aligned with site priorities.

It is part of the Pemex group, a fully integrated oil company in the Americas, working across the entire value chain: exploration, production, industrial processing/refining, logistics, and marketing.
