THE POSITION

Accidents happen, and the workplace has no exception to this! The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Human Resource Service Center (HRSC) Work Related Injury Services (WRIS) is comprised of a team of dedicated staff who are called upon when Commonwealth employees need support the most. We are looking for a customer focused, detail-oriented, and compassionate Human Resource Assistant 2 to play a vital role in managing work-related injury claims. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Human Resource Assistant 2, you will function as a WRIS team member and manage work-related injury claims where only first aid was administered (incident only claims) or where only limited medical treatment was needed and no time was missed from work, other than for medical appointments (medical only, no lost time claims). This professional must maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Workers' Compensation Act and special benefits programs, which includes compliance with the PA Workers' Compensation Act, PA Act 632/534, PA Heart & Lung Act and their related regulations and case laws; claims investigation; Commonwealth Management Directives and Manuals; collective bargaining agreements and past practices; the Accident and Illness Prevention Program (AIPP); the personnel rules; and agency specific policies related to injuries and illnesses at work. This position involves investigating claims to ensure accuracy of documented information and compiling various monthly reports. You will work with the contracted workers' compensation third party administrator (TPA) and Bureau of Commonwealth Payroll Operations (BCPO) to ensure employees receive appropriate pay and benefits, in addition to providing prescription cards and managed care cards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Human Resource Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of clerical or other comparable experience and one year of beginning level paraprofessional human resource or equal opportunity work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You may be required to pass a Pennsylvania State Police background check
