Are you passionate about ensuring the highest standards in Kosher wine production? Join our dedicated team at Canandaigua Winery and play a crucial role in maintaining the Orthodox Union (OU) standards for our Kosher Cellar and Packaging Production. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who values safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

As a key member of our team, you will ensure and validate that all incoming materials for processing and packaging meet OU standards. You will monitor processing methods, act as a liaison between Canandaigua Winery and the Orthodox Union, and train cellar staff to adhere to these standards. Your expertise in Kosher Wine Processing will be essential in developing, validating, and maintaining our Kosher production processes.

We believe there is always room for improvement, and you will maintain a mindset that seeks better ways of working. Keeping your work area clean, organized, and Food Safety compliant, you will be responsible for general housekeeping duties and maintaining a sanitary environment. Routine production reporting and quality checks will be part of your daily tasks, ensuring consistent performance in all in-process and final production quality control and verification checks.

You will also support E & J Gallo Winery's sustainability policies and practices, contributing to conservation, energy efficiency, and recycling programs. Demonstrating situational awareness and a sense of urgency on the production floor, you will prioritize Safety, Quality, and Productivity. Effective communication with team members, leadership, and other departments is crucial, as is maintaining satisfactory attendance and complying with all applicable quality, environmental, and safety regulations.

What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate; or three years of experience in food or wine production or manufacturing.
  • Ability to make kosher wine and familiarity with laws of Kashrut.
  • Ability to fulfill the duties of a Mashgiach.
  • Forklift certification and operation as needed.
  • Required to wear a respirator when necessary.
  • Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Required to work at heights and in small areas.
  • Required to comply with company GMP policies.
  • Skilled in writing simple correspondence. Skilled in effective written and oral communication.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Enology, Viticulture, Chemical Engineering, Food Science or Microbiology plus 5 years of enology, viticulture, process technology, chemistry, distillation or winemaking experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
  • Ability to make kosher wine and familiarity with laws of Kashrut.
  • Ability to fulfil the duties of a Mashgiach.

Compensation:
  • Hiring Salary Range Posted: $34.55 - $51.80 / hour.
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
