Job Overview

We are searching for an experienced and detail-oriented candidate to join us as GL Accountant.

The Accountant I is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the company's financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger. This on-site role involves preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies.

Ideally, you should be working in collaboration with the various departments for accounting data. In addition to this, you should possess excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Prior working experience as a GL Accountant will be mandatory for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

FIXED Asset Management:

  • Manage Fixed Assets by ensuring proper approvals of CARs, assigning project numbers for approved CAPEX and tagging of assets
  • Capitalization of assets and ensuring proper disposals in a timely manner by working with the project owners
  • Reconcile CIP and prepare monthly PPE Roll-forward

Inventory/Reporting:

  • Assist with preparation of monthly cycle count accuracy and completeness
  • Work with cycle counter to document and understand root causes of variances
  • Ad hoc reporting as assigned by controller

Account Reconciliation:

  • Perform regular reconciliations of selected balance sheet accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation issues promptly.

Month-End and Year-End Close:

  • Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Prepare journal entries and ensure proper documentation and approval.
  • Prepares quarterly close templates related to Warranty, Sales returns & Allowances, Capital Variances & Revenue Recognition.

Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Monthly dock audits
  • Assist with audit requests from Internal and external audit team

AR & AP:

  • Monitor AR on a high level to ensure there aren't any issues.
  • Assist the Production team on credit hold issues and communicate reasons for credit hold.
  • Work with the buyers and AP on vendor delinquent payments issues
  • Assist controller by submitting a ticket for Vendor term changes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 1-3 years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role.
  • Experience within manufacturing accounting preferred
  • Candidate must be on-site at our Columbia City, IN plant location
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, adherence to procedures and policies, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with SAP

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring company sponsorship to obtain or keep U.S. work authorization.

Working Conditions:

Office environment with standard working hours; occasional extended hours during peak periods.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

The work environment includes noise levels which are usually minimal.
