About the Role:

The Construction Manager (Seattle, WA, Portland, OR Minneapolis, MN) is a critical role responsible for leading and managing the execution of new restaurant builds, relocations, and remodels within a designated geographic area. This hands-on, construction-savvy professional oversees all aspects of the development process from planning through final execution. Serving as the primary point of contact for franchisees, contractors, and internal stakeholders, the Construction Manager ensures that each project is completed on time, within budget, and to Subway's high standards. Key responsibilities include managing construction schedules, coordinating cross-functional communication, conducting regular site visits, and proactively addressing issues to ensure successful outcomes. This role directly supports the organization's growth and operational goals through seamless and efficient project delivery.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Project Oversight and Execution-Lead all phases of restaurant construction projects including scheduling, contractor management, quality control, and adherence to budget and scope. Ensure execution meets brand standards and operational readiness.
  • Franchisee and Stakeholder Coordination-Act as the primary point of contact for franchisees, general contractors, vendors, and internal teams. Align expectations, provide updates, and resolve conflicts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Site Visits and Field Monitoring-Conduct on-site inspections at key milestones to assess construction progress, validate work quality, and troubleshoot issues. Identify risks and ensure compliance with plans and timelines.
  • Issue Resolution and Risk Mitigation-Identify, assess, and resolve construction-related issues quickly to avoid delays. Work collaboratively with partners to mitigate risk and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Cross-Functional Communication-Collaborate with Real Estate Managers, Design Team, Construction Specialists, Restaurant Operations, and Field Operations teams to ensure all inputs are aligned for timely project execution and successful openings.



Qualifications:




  • Associate Degree in Construction Management, General Business, Project Management.
  • Candidates with experience in construction management, general contracting, or field supervision may also qualify without a degree.
  • 3+ years in a similar role or industry and in a professional office environment.
  • Travel: 75%.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction practices, permitting processes, building codes, and restaurant development timelines.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across a distributed geography.
  • Effective leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to tailor messages to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence across franchisees, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
  • Skilled in interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Procore, or equivalent).
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to job sites across the assigned region.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Actual pay is determined based on a number of job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, qualifications, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
