Job Description

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, the primary responsibility is to provide technical support and on-site services to customers. The Field Service/Start-Up Engineer I is expected to assist with equipment installations, repairs, and maintenance in a professional, efficient, and timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in comprehensive, paid onsite training to become familiar with TEL products, equipment, and standard operating procedures, which will include safety, technical, and classroom training sessions
  • Provide technical support to customers primarily via on-site visits
  • Assist with equipment installations, repairs, and maintenance
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, cleaning, and preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Replace or repair defective parts or components as needed
  • Assist in troubleshooting simple technical issues
  • Generate performance reports, customer feedback, and assist with quality assurance activities
  • Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times, ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relationships
  • Keep updated with the latest industry trends, product enhancements, and service techniques through continuous learning and training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding and strong interest in technology and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to adhere to processes, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as develop and implement effective solutions
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Promote a culture that prioritizes safety and quality in all aspects of work
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines
  • Manage risks effectively, and considering corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Flexibility to travel frequently to customer sites, often on short notice

Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensure):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • No experience necessary; customer service experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Job duties are often performed in small, confined areas in a clean room environment, in stretched awkward positions and/or in high places. Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and ability to lift/carry objects up to 35 pounds is required. May require bending/stooping/crawling/climbing. May require the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Duties also include application of proper industry safety procedures when working with dangerous elements or conditions such as chemicals, electric currents, or high voltage, moving mechanical parts, radiation, etc. Occasional travel to TEL factories, training facilities and customer locations may be required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

A clean room garment may be required to be worn for lengthy periods of time.

PPE is required including, not limited to, consistent wearing of safety glasses, safety shoes and a bump cap.

Job duties may require walking up to and in excess of 10,000 steps and walking up and down multiple flights of stairs per shift (12 hours).
