  • Position Description
    The Operations Manager is accountable for leading a team of employees on safe day-to-day operations executing KPI delivery and resource optimization. Responsible for dryer and digester operation efficiency. Manages the data associated with these processes and informs the plant manager in advance of developing issues. Creates operation schedule to provide consistency in plant operations. Provides technical and analytical guidance to the team. Support interface with environmental and regulatory agencies as well as haulers to ensure efficient processing and delivery of material to the market. Supporting the achievement of business plan objectives.

    * Develop employees in accordance with Synagro's progression program and conduct performance reviews

    * Assists in creating the weekly forecasts and ensures operating performance and inventory reflects forecast
    * Participates in the development of annual business plans and budget

    * Provide training and accountability to permit process through audits
    * Conducts inspections as required by Plant Manager.
    QUALIFICATIONS Experience and Skills
    * Education
    * Special Training
    * Industry Experience etc.
    * 65 years' experience in a leadership or management role
    * Experience working in a technical role, preferably in residuals management, wastewater treatment, or relevant industry
    * Experience working with the following: thermal dryers, anaerobic digestors, centrifuges, or water treatment laboratory equipment considered an asset
    * Post-secondary education in a process/chemical, electrical or mechanical program an asset
    * Proven organization and time management skills
    * Ability to effectively communicate thoughts and ideas both written and verbally with strong data capture and field reporting experience
    * Ability to develop rapport with employees, vendors, and community
    * Ability to solve problems and lead others under pressure
    * Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting systems
    * Ability to move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating and uneven surfaces utilizing ladders when necessary
    * Ability to lift up to 25 kg/50 lbs loads from ground periodically
    * Ability to access confined spaces for general cleaning and inspections
    * Ability to work evenings and/or weekends if/when required and respond to emergency call outs
    * Legally able to travel to other countries as required
