Summary of Job Duties:Responsibilities include developing and teaching courses in welding (Arc, MIG, TIG, safety, layout and fabrication) as well as maintaining training/certification through ongoing professional development. Other duties will include engagement with advisory council; assessment/evaluation of instruction; student advisement, recruitment, and retention activities; and participation in college and University committees. The position reports to the department head of Engineering. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Work Experience: Associate degree in welding or combination of education/training, experience, and technical certification

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience: Bachelor's degree; previous teaching experience

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Classroom instruction

  • Blackboard course shell development and production

  • Safety training and documentation

  • Maintenance of equipment and laboratory facilities

  • Professional development

  • Service to college and University, including advising and committees

  • Curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation

  • Assessment and evaluation of instruction

  • Engagement with advisory council

Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and retention of students, including advising students

  • Attendance and participation in all faculty and administrative meetings, Student Research Symposium, commencement ceremonies, and other meetings/events as required

  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

Special Job Dimensions: Work split between an office/classroom setting and a welding laboratory. Occasional travel and extended hours required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer and demonstrating various welding processes. Required abilities include walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods, as well as the ability to work overhead for limited periods of time. Visual demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionally lifts items up to 50 pounds.
