Career Opportunity

We are looking for candidates to fill a Security Specialist position at our Wallops Island, Virginia, station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) at Wallops Island requires support in management, engineering, operations, and technical expertise for the activation, operation, maintenance, and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs. This support is crucial for all Naval Sea Systems Command and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems missions and projects conducted at SCSC. SCSC offers live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric maritime environment, aimed at developing, testing, evaluating, and conducting fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support the Security Manager in the various aspects of Security to include Information Security (INFOSEC ), Personnel Security (PERSEC), Operations Security (OPSEC), and Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (ATFP) to maintain security compliance.
• Review and provide background information for Government approval to ensure information is properly classified under the authority of Executive Order 13526 in accordance with NAVSEA Security Classification Guides (SCG) and is protected from unauthorized disclosure.
• Conduct security reviews of materials for public release to protect both classified and controlled unclassified information.
• Ensure implementation of OPSEC and participate in planning for and conducting annual assessments.
• Ensure protection/anti-terrorist programs are in conformance with approved policy and applicable legislation, statues, decisions, and other regulatory requirements.

Travel

• This position includes a low level of travel.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required

• Two years of experience in a plant or facility as a security professional.
• Experience in the administration of a security compliance program to include INFOSEC, PERSEC, OPSEC, and ATFP.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret security clearance highly desired however candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must maintain the capability to communicate with their supervisor or manager when not in the office.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations on base.

• Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
• Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 lbs.
