- Keeps inventory of parts, supplies, equipment, and tools for entire city garage.
- Maintains accurate records of inventory.
- Picks up parts and supplies and delivers to satellite mechanic stations.
- Has equipment and tools maintained, repaired and/or replaced as needed; performs safety checks.
- Keeps stockroom & satellite mechanic stations stock areas orderly.
- Orders replacement parts and shops around for best prices.
- Assists with fuel system and fueling equipment for vehicles and equipment at two sites; monitors levels of diesel fuel and gasoline to assure availability as needed. Must be able to obtain and maintain class A/B underground fuel tank certification within one (1) year of hire.
- Performs general office work; answers telephones as needed and routes calls as required.
- Assists with snow removal operations as dispatcher with other stockroom personnel during snow operations.
- Processing of invoices for correct payment and posting to work orders.
- Actively working with personnel to procure parts and supplies as needed.

Requirements of Work |
Graduation from high school plus elementary technical training and 1 - 3 years of experience in inventory control; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills: |
Knowledge of |
- Supplies, tools and materials used in the public works department.
- Inventory stock control.
- Standard office procedures.
- The use of standard office equipment including computers and relevant software.
- Occupational hazards and the practices and techniques used to avoid or minimize risks.
- Must be familiar and capable of using Word and excel daily.

- Keep accurate records and make reports.
- Understand and carry out instructions.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Multitask and prioritize workload.

Necessary Special Requirements |
CDL with A, B and C endorsements, N preferred but not required; valid Wisconsin driver's license; ability to complete a pre-employment post offer physical including drug test upon hire, and random drug and alcohol tests thereafter. |
