NURSING INTERN - CARDIAC INTERMEDIATE CARE UNIT - PRN / CONTINGENT - DAY SHIFT Shift: Days, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Three 12-hour shifts per 6-week scheduling period minimum GENERAL SUMMARY: Unit Description: Henry Ford St John Hospital's 5 North Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit is a 36 bed, medical surgical stepdown unit specializing in the care of patients with chest pain, arrhythmias and heart failure. The majority of our patients are admitted via our Emergency Department and have an average stay of about 5 days. We partner closely with the Cardiac Cath Lab for pre and postoperative care. Our nurses have an average patient ratio of 3-4:1, and the support of Registered Nurse Leadership, RNs, and Patient Care Technicians. Under the supervision of a nurse, provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Completes assigned nursing orders as directed by preceptor, including assisting patient with activities of daily living and taking vital signs. Observes patient status and responses. Documents and reports observations to preceptor or other appropriate staff. Assists preceptor with development of care plan by reporting test results and patient observations. Performs other tasks as assigned, including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services. Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of date of hire/transfer. Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
