About the Role

As Director, Sr. Finance Business Customer, act to:

* Support, challenge, drive the strategic and financial decisions and priorities of the US Customer Operations team.
* Drive financial performance under the regulatory framework and through NG's transition to the clean energy future, and to work as a key member of the Finance team to continually improve finance processes, and to develop talent within the Finance team

What You'll Do
  • Act a key Business Partner to the Customer team (Call Center, Collections, Billing, Energy Efficiency) leading them through the long term business & financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes with an aim of driving financial performance.
  • Support the implementation of cost saving, continuous improvement and performance excellence activities, consistently achieving strong results in the New York and New England business.
  • Support the delivery of the relevant business area's financial response to regulatory arrangements and maximise future allowances for ongoing investment in infrastructure and services.
  • Support Customer contract management and ensure third party arrangements meet our commercial and performance needs.
  • Act as the finance lead on Customer investment appraisal process for the business area, guiding decision making with insight and optimization opportunities, to ensure that all current and future investments are made in line with the business strategy and value requirements
  • Present the monthly results in a style suitable for both a finance and non-finance audience, delivering insight and highlighting priority areas for focus, ensuring efficiencies are optimized for the longer term.
  • Develop and manage a highly motivated, capable and adequately resourced team (5 FTE's), driving a performance management culture that delivers value through employee engagement
  • Actively contribute to the business to impact the shape of commercial and non-financial performance related decisions. Drive the management of performance, financial risks and the implementation & maintenance of controls.
What You'll Need

* Minimum of 8+ years of progressive growth in business support roles
* Broad range of financial, management and business modelling experience
* Excellent written / oral communications skills and follow-up
* The ability to influence and impact the decisions and financial performance of senior stakeholders and their teams throughout the relevant business area
* Strong commercial skills
* Good strategic outlook. Joins the dots between long term strategy and financial performance, whilst dealing with ambiguity
* Proven ability to adapt style of financial information presentation to suit a range of stakeholders, both financial and non-financial.
* Extensive experience in Financial analysis and investment appraisal, with track record of successful delivery
* Planning, forecasting and budgeting expertise
* Demonstrated Business Partner experience to act as a trusted advisor using strategic insight to deliver tangible performance improvements
* Proactively maintaining continued professional development under relevant accountancy body or other recognized professional development
* Strong understanding of how value is generated and of operating within a regulated business environment

Annual Salary

Brooklyn and surrounding areas: $194,000-$228,000

Waltham and surrounding areas: $181,000-$213,000

Syracuse and surrounding areas: $162,000-$190,000

Salary commensurate with experience and location.

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
