THE POSITION

Delaware County Department of Human Services Office of Children and Youth Services has an immediate opening for Social Casework Intern. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

All case activities take place under the supervision of a Caseworker 2 or 3 or Casework Supervisor. Training and supervision are accomplished through observation of Caseworkers, detailed instructions, supervisory conferences and the frequent review of work in progress. Social Casework Interns will assist with assessment activities and the performance and provision of specific services. You will have the opportunity to assist with placement, counseling, and assistance in other specialized areas to include home and money management, housing, employment and child rearing.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Enrollment as a full time student in a bachelor's degree program in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related behavioral science, and completion of 75 credits, including completion of 15 credits in one of the listed majors.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
