In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Research Programs and Projects duties: Supports the development of new products and innovation. Includes Clinical roles focused on research projects. Positions in this family perform basic, translational, and/or clinical research towards solving a specific problem for an entity or community. A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education. A senior level role that requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Typically responsible for: managing projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision, coaching and reviewing the work of lower level professionals, resolving difficult and sometimes complex problems.

Job Overview

The Clinical Research Nurse is responsible for overseeing the implementation, management, and administration of clinical trial protocols. This position interfaces with federal and corporate sponsors, inpatient and outpatient facilities, departments, and personnel to ensure a collaborative environment and high-quality outcomes. This position safeguards the rights and wellbeing of the study participant and provides general operational support and administrative duties related to clinical activities for the research study.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Massachusetts RN Licensure.

2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

4. 3 Years of RN Experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

2. Previous Research RN experience.

Shift: 40 hours

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Possess an understanding of protocols and provides administrative and regulatory management of protocols and clinical trials, ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

2. Collaborates with physicians to identify and recruit eligible patients and guide the patient through the informed consent process.

3. Acts as a navigator to the clinical trial patient, ensuring understanding and compliance with trial protocols and directing patient questions to the appropriate resources for a smooth patient experience.

5. Schedules and ensures office, treatment, and clinical testing appointments are made and completed per study protocols.

6. Provides education and acts as a resource to clinical team members, including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists and other allied health care professionals.

7. In Coordination with the Research Coordinator, maintains protocol training logs.

8. Establishes mechanisms to ensure complete and accurate data collection and documentation.

9. In collaboration with the Clinical Research Coordinator, ensures that the documentation for the clinical trials is complete and accurate and submitted in a timely manner.

10. Monitors response to treatment, assesses the need for dose reductions, and prepares and submits "Serious Adverse Event" reports as required by the study protocol.

11. Responsible for IP (Investigational Product) accountability monitoring in collaboration with the pharmacy.

Physical Requirements:

1. Prolonged standing and walking.

2. Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.

3. Exposure to infectious disease and possible carcinogenic chemicals.

4. Exposure of blood-borne pathogens.

5. Requires fine manual dexterity to lift and maneuver patients.

6. Requires visual and aural acuity necessary to monitor patient care.

Skills & Abilities:

1. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team.

2. Ability to analyze, evaluate multiple solutions, and solve complex problems using well developed critical & analytical thinking skills.

3. Excellent time management skills needed to prioritize competing priorities.
