Represent the company with the highest integrity possible at all times. Essential Function:
Drives tractor-trailer to deliver product to job sites in a safe and efficient manner using learned skills and knowledge. Follows DOT and TH&E safety regulations, policies and procedures at all times. Wears required personal protective equipment while on duty. Receives daily instructions and load assignments from local dispatcher. Executes load assignments that are in compliance with all Federal, State and local DOT rules, regulations, curfew restrictions and permit constraints. If a driver has reason to believe a load is not in compliance, they shall bring this to the attention of the local dispatcher as quickly as possible. The conditions of non-compliance are to be presented in a courteous manner to the local dispatcher for resolution. The driver shall assist with resolving the problem provided no Federal, State or local DOT rules, regulations, curfew restrictions and permit constraints are violated. Ensures that tractors and trailers are in good working condition by performing pre and post trip inspections. Completes all required paperwork daily; including trip summary, driver's logs, vehicle inspection reports, bills of lading, wait/work time sheets and other forms as required. Reports any maintenance problems to the maintenance department, using required forms, and informs dispatch of the same. Verifies the proper load assignment by checking pertinent information on the bill of lading. This information is the trailer number, job number (when used) and piece marks. Uses learned skills and knowledge to secure the loads as specified by DOT rules and regulations and TH&E policies and procedures. Uses supplied chains, ratchet binders, straps (when specified) and corner guards to secure the load and protect product from damage. Straps may not be used on any finished good products. Verifies no loose material or dunnage is unsecured while in transit. Remains knowledgeable of DOT rules and regulations by staying up to date on the driver's handbook. Verifies all required documents for the operation of his/her truck including registration, insurance certificate, IFTA card, annual inspection and hauling permits are current and up to date. Reports any delays or down time to dispatch. Maintains contact with jobsite supervision to insure proper placement of trailers for off-loading. Obtains customer signature for proof of delivery and/or for wait/work time sheets when required. Responsible for keeping tractor clean and presentable.
Job Qualifications:
Commercial Driver's License Class A Acceptable driving record (no prior Dui/Dwi), no crash with fatality, no historical pattern of speeding) Must be 25 years of age, or 23 years of age with 2 years' experience hauling similar concrete products Ability to pass company/DOT physical Ability to pass company/DOT drug and alcohol test Ability to work in various types of weather Ability to respond with remaining hours of service to the local dispatcher's preliminary order for the next days scheduled deliveries. Ability to confirm the next days' finalized dispatch order prior to going off duty in the current day. Ability to work all available hours of service per Federal Regulations. This may include weekends and holidays provided no vacation time that has been previously submitted and approved is in conflict with the requested workdays. Ability to lift/carry grade 70 5/16" chains that are 25' long Ability to lift/carry and use ratchet binders Ability to lift/carry and use 2" or 3" straps Ability to push/pull or drag chains, binders or straps overloads up to 13'6" in height Ability to lift/carry/push/pull/drag tarp and secure it properly Ability to climb ladder/tractor/trailer/load up to 13'6" in height to secure load
