 Position Summary
PLEASE NOTE: This  position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately  138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM. The University of  New Mexico Gallup Branch anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach  face-to-face in the Fall 2025, Spring 2026 and Summer 2026 semesters in the Liberal  Arts & Education Division. Adjunct faculty will be expected to teach  and/or develop lower division courses (1000 and 2000 Level) in Communications. Anticipated openings potentially include the following subjects: 
 - COMM 1115 - Introduction to Communication
 - COMM 1130 - Public Speaking
 - COMM 1145 - Sex, Lies, and Fake News: How to Use Media Wisely
 - COMM 1150 - Introduction to Mass Communication
 - COMM 1155 - Communication Across Culture
 - COMM 2120 - Introduction to Interpersonal Communication
 - COMM 2121 - Introduction to Interpersonal Health Communication
 - COMM 2185 - Multimedia and Visual Storytelling
 
 
UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ full  time and part-time faculty members. We  are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission offering Associate  degrees, selected Bachelor's degrees, Career Technical Education certificate  programs, adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training, and personal  enrichment courses. UNM-Gallup serves  multiple high school populations including McKinley Academy, Middle College  High School, and the Center for Career and Technical Education.
   The Liberal Arts & Education Division at the UNM Gallup Branch is seeking  a qualified temporary part-time faculty member to teach lower division  classes in various courses or topics as specified above. UNM Gallup  instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching  including but not limited to meeting with the class during assigned times  that may include face-to-face, evenings or weekends, content delivery,  assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, and  assessment of student learning as outlined by the division chair.
   Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student  enrollment levels, the current course offering matrix, and demand driven by  graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each  semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses.  Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the  division chair.
  Wages Adjunct faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their  credentials and credit hour course loads, as follows:
  Credentials   Rate  Per Credit Hour Terminal Degree, plus 12 hours College teaching   $1,228.24 Terminal Degree, less than 12 hours College  teaching $1,178.88 Master's Degree, plus 12 hours College  teaching $1,135.26 Master's Degree, less than 12 hours College  teaching $1,135.26

 Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: 
 - Master's degree in Communications
  or related field  
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
 - Doctorate in Communications or a
  related field. - College-level
 teaching experience. - A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
