DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Your ability to observe keenly will be essential in assessing both the physical and driving qualifications of applicants, as well as evaluating the mechanical condition of vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards. You will be responsible for administering a variety of vision tests, including telebinocular assessments and color perception evaluations, in addition to conducting knowledge examinations for both non-commercial and commercial driver licenses. This process will ensure that candidates possess a thorough understanding of the Vehicle Code and traffic signage. Your meticulous attention to detail will play a vital role as you carefully review a range of documents, such as applications, birth certificates, Social Security cards, marriage certificates, court records, proof of residency, and official documents from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service, the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. State Department, and foreign governments, to confirm their authenticity and validity. - Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and travel as needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
- This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
- All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver's license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
- This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.
