The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Summary

Provides direct patient care services to individuals exhibiting communication and or swallowing disorders,

Coordinates services with other health professionals,

May assist in the training and supervision of students,

Essential Job Functions

Delivers effective therapeutic services that are relevant to population served and remains knowledgeable of current techniques,

Communicates Speech Language evaluations on population served that accurately and efficiently identifies strengths and needs in the area being evaluated,

Effectively communicates this information in verbal and written forms,

Completes Basic Competencies of the population currently serving as indicated on the Competency criteria for Speech and Hearing Dept,

, and hospital competencies,

Meets productivity demands by seeking out opportunities within the entire department when cancellations, no shows and low census occur,

Effectively shares information regarding therapy, evaluation techniques and or hospital procedures with students, volunteers, CFYs and peers,

Participates in projects for the department that are consistent with department and hospital goals and missions,

Communicates job specific concerns and participates in developing solutions,

Provides in service training to staff and community as requested and completes training commencer with state license laws,

Completes written work in a timely manner relevant to evaluation, therapy and patient coordination and the content of written material meets ASHA specifics,

Meets minimum annual expected volumes,

Other duties as assigned

Formal Education and Job Related Experience

Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology,

Completion of the national examination if beginning Clinical Fellowship Year affiliation,

Evidence of continuing education is necessary to meet licensing requirements,

Student clinical experience in pediatrics rehabilitation experience desirable,

Thorough knowledge of the theoretical principles and clinical application employed in the diagnosis and management of various communication and swallowing disorders,

Knowledge of typical development is desirable,

Tact, initiative and judgment in the performance of duties,

Member of ASHA required,

Certification

Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech Language Hearing Association or eligible,

Clinical Fellows welcome to apply,

American Heart Association BLS Provider Certification required,

License

NJ State Speech Language Pathology License or eligible,

Education and Experience Additional Comments

Bilingual SLPs must be able to independently provide comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders using the client s, patient s language and preferred mode of communication,

They must also have the linguistic proficiency to

Describe the process of normal speech and language acquisition for both bilingual and monolingual speakers of that language, including how those processes are manifested in oral and written language, or manually coded languages when applicable

Select, administer, and interpret formal and informal assessment procedures to distinguish between communication differences and communication disorders

Apply intervention strategies for treatment of communication disorders in the language or mode of communication most appropriate for the needs of the individual,
