Job Description Summary

The position is that of Director of Finance Technology and Transformation for [Ashtead Group plc ("Ashtead")]. Ashtead is a $10bn revenue FTSE 50 listed company which has announced its intention to relist on the NYSE. Ashtead trades under the brand Sunbelt Rentals and is the world's second largest equipment rental group globally, serving principally the US, Canada and the UK. Ashtead operates through over 1,500 rental stores across our markets and employs over 25,000 people, renting a full range of construction and industrial equipment across a wide variety of applications to a diverse customer base. Our equipment can be used to lift, power, generate, move, dig, compact, drill, support, scrub, pump, direct, heat and ventilate - whatever is required. Our objective is to deliver sustainable value and above average performance across the economic cycle, thereby extending our industry-leading position and delivering superior total returns for shareholders.

This newly created role based in our Fort Mill support office provides an opportunity to play a key role in building the finance function of the future, driving innovation, technology adoption, process automation and predictive learning/artificial intelligence. The role will be expected to drive finance technology strategy and transformation, change leadership, organizational efficiency and world class effectiveness throughout the company

The role will report to the Vice President of Financial Technologies and Continuous Improvement and will have significant interaction with senior executive management across Ashtead's leadership based in Fort Mill, in addition to the broader company.

Responsibilities:

Technology Strategy and Continuous Improvement

  • Working with the IT department, define a comprehensive roadmap for advanced financial technologies to include analytic, visualization, data manipulation and AI tools (e.g., Altryx, Cliq, Power BI, Oracle, TM1, etc)

  • Identify and define process improvement priorities and measure progress against the same, working alongside SMEs to implement

  • Deploy financial technologies to aid in automation and efficiency across SOX control population

  • Upgrade the suite of operating/management reporting templates and tools

Change management

  • Define change management approach to upskill the broader organization to include championing key technologies, training programs and ongoing support

  • Drive adoption of advanced technologies across the company

Technology implementation

  • Work with key vendors to embed key technology choices into the Sunbelt ecosystem

  • Support the migration of operational reporting tools into Oracle

  • Work with key stakeholders to define security parameters applicable to tools deployed

Requirements:
  • Strong technology and finance experience (15+ years experience), preferably with experience of leading an in-house transformation programs

  • Proven change leader with a clear track record of success

  • Team player with a strong technical background, ability to work across siloes

  • An individual who is looking for a challenging role within a dynamic team environment

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Organisation and communication skills

  • Four year degree required, advanced systems degree/qualification preferred

Physical Demands:

Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind, or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. Base Pay Range: $144,000.00 - 198,000.00
