Summary: The Teacher Assistant (TIS) is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in supervising children to ensure their safety and well being; providing instruction and facilitation to groups and individual children under the direction of the Teacher; and collaborating with the Teacher to assess the strengths and needs of children and design appropriate classroom activities. Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.Other duties may be assigned.
a.Plan activities for assigned groups or individual children. b.Implement the daily schedule as assigned. c.Decorate the room with bulletin boards, pictures, children's artwork, and other hangings. d.Serve breakfast, lunches, and snacks. e.Help with materials and room clean-up and organization. Other information: Education and/or Experience - High School Diploma or High School Equivalency required. Some college credit in the fields of early childhood, special education, or psychology preferred. At least 1-year supervised experience working with children with special needs, including social/emotional disorders and/or developmental disabilities.in a typical childcare program.
