Senior Mechatronics Technician - Electro-Mechanical Systems

Location: Ipswich, MA Area

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 (based on experience)

Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire

Advantage Technical is looking for a highly skilled Senior Mechatronics Technician to join our team and provide expert technical support in testing, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing advanced electromechanical systems. This role works closely with Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to ensure the optimal performance of actuators and to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction through service excellence.

Key Responsibilities



  • Perform hands-on assembly, repair, and testing of electro-mechanical components and systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action on functional discrepancies.
  • Review and analyze customer field data to identify performance trends.
  • Diagnose, disassemble, repair, and reassemble precision actuators and assemblies for customer return.
  • Configure and calibrate both hardware and software after installation.
  • Provide on-site customer support, including upgrades, installations, and equipment training.
  • Communicate real-time technical data to Engineering and Operations for design and process improvements.
  • Maintain and service tools, diagnostic equipment, and test instruments in the lab and during fieldwork.
  • Order and track repair parts, consumables, and supplies as part of administrative duties.
  • Document service activities, repairs, and field installations accurately.


Qualifications & Skills



  • Proven experience with servo drives, digital encoders, electric motors, and electromechanical systems.
  • Strong background in data acquisition, programming, and Python (required).
  • Proficient in mechanical and electrical diagnostics using tools such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and power supplies.
  • Skilled in soldering (IPC-610), wiring, crimping, and the use of precision hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and issue-tracking systems is a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization tools to create clear technical reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate performance data and test results.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and other business software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to train customers effectively.


Physical Requirements



  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work with hands and arms for extended periods.
  • Lift and move equipment and components weighing up to 50 lbs.
