Job Details:

I. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES, QUALIFICATIONS, AND BASIC SKILL LEVELS:

* High School education supplemented by formal or on the job training.

* Minimum five years background in the manufacturing sector.

* Requires considerable experience and background in manufacturing principles around which the parts are produced.

* Knowledge and technical background to assume the responsibility of supervision.

II. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Direct and coordinate activities of all areas of production, personnel, quality control, maintenance and related operations as they pertain to your department.

* Plan, organize and schedule workload, assign work, instruct and train personnel as to proper set-up of machines, fixtures, gauges and production of jobs including teardown. Expedite production; investigate delays and initiate corrective actions to assure economical production through efficient procedures.

* Collaborate with and assist respective department managers to determine special customer instructions and adaptations as it relates to the production machining operations.

* Provide process status and technical information on an as needed basis for the Production V.P. or other respective department Supervisor. Coordinate programs as they relate to manufacturing methods cost reductions.

* Supervise the checking large and expensive parts and/or smaller precision components having exacting specifications involving complicated and improvised machine set ups and difficult operations.

* Participate in and coordinate job training, work simplifications, cost reductions, communications, etc.

* Review job profit and update quotes on parts as required. Including continual review of outside vendors as to their quality and price.

* Maintain department's needs as to a well-trained competent work force consistent with work levels.

* Administer disciplinary measures, appraise employee performance and recommend change of status or wage adjustments in accordance with the Company's current policy.

* Keep informed of new developments in the technical and drafting field.

* Work is subject to procedures relating to your department.

* Other duties as instructed or directed by direct supervisors.

III. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

* Assume responsibility for quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy.

* Effectively communicate with all other departments regarding upcoming needs or requirements from those departments.

* Communicate with customers as needed.

* Support the Company's Quality Policy by understanding & following the policies, procedures as they apply to your job & department.

* Work closely with ISO Coordinator to assure continuous improvement is applied to the procedure as it relates to your department.

* Support the company by performing other duties as directed by the V.P. of Manufacturing that do not infringe on the ISO requirements.

* Support the company's Lean Activities.

IV. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; reach above shoulders and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

V. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

* The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

VI. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

* Protective footwear must be worn. Safety shoes must have toe protection and metatarsal guards that meet the ANSI Z41 -1991 standard.

* Safety glasses must be worn at all times in all shop areas this includes employees who need corrective lenses.

* Various tasks may require an employee to wear additional personal protective equipment such as gloves, aprons, hearing protection, face shields or any other equipment required to help you safely perform your job.

VII. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

* Proficient in Basic Math

* Read and write whole numbers, common and decimal fractions, and mixed numbers.

* Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals, and fractions

* Add, subtract, multiply and divide common fractions and mixed numbers

* Change decimals to common fractions and vice versa

* Utilize the pocket calculator to reliably perform arithmetic operations

* Understand and apply concepts of technical math (not calculus based)

* Add, subtract, multiply and divide decimal numbers

* Compute with percentage

* Set up and solve word problems involving arithmetic operations

* Measurement - rulers, calipers, micrometers, conversions

* Ratios and proportions

* Percent's

* Geometry - review shapes, angles, and properties

* Area and volume

* Algebra - simplify, equations

* Trigonometry

* Probability and statistics
