The Ground Operations Analytics Consutant is responsible for taking complex data models and interpreting results to develop a strategy for operational and financial performance. They'll support Ground Operations Analytics team by assisting with the execution of existing methodologies to evaluate Company processes, support planning decisions, engage Stakeholders, and deliver on project goals and requirements. The Ground Operations Analytics Consultant is an analytical problem solver who is ready to drive the future of Southwest Airlines Ground Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain forecast models and predictive analysis on department metrics
  • Deliver analysis and solutions that illustrate a clear understanding of the business problem at hand as well as the broader impact across the wider operational group and Enterprise
  • Responsible for assisting with the execution of existing methodologies to evaluate Company processes, support planning decisions, engage Stakeholders, and deliver on project goals and requirements
  • Anticipates large-scale, complex challenges within the analytical scope
  • Conducts analysis by:
    • Gathering operational and financial data associated with the results of Southwest's operations
    • Examining and analyzing data using appropriate methods and tools
    • Developing and evaluating models to meet operational and financial needs
  • Preparing and delivering reports/presentations to share results with Southwest Leaders
  • Works closely with cross-functional departments and key Leaders to help with information, analysis, and guidance as appropriate
  • Utilize complex data points analysis to produce quality presentations, business cases and other material to support Leadership decision making
  • Participates in special projects or ad hoc efforts as requested, while monitoring project milestones and deliverables
  • Identify areas to improve operational performance and business process through an understanding of Customer/process insights, assurance data, strategic needs, and risk management
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge in MS Office Suite, SQL, Alteryx and/or Tableau
  • Ability to meet deadlines, often within very tight timeframes
  • Ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to assume a high level of responsibility and to provide direction in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, to include Senior Leaders, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly detail-oriented tasks
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and distill complex, detailed issues down into easily understood, actionable findings
  • Ability to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
    • analytical problem solving
    • airline operations
    • forecasting and modeling
Licensing/Certification
  • N/A
Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $100,700 per year to $111,900 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
