ABOUT THE POSITION

At VHB, we're more than engineers and planners - we're community builders. Our Atlanta Land Development Planning & Design team is growing, and we're looking for a Senior Project Manager to help lead the way.

Our clients include commercial and residential developers, industrial leaders, hospitality brands, higher ed and healthcare institutions, municipalities, state agencies, and private investors throughout the eastern U.S.

What You'll Do

    Lead and deliver site/civil engineering design and permitting for a variety of land development projects.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record on complex, high-profile projects.
  • Guide teams in developing site layouts, grading, stormwater management, and utility systems.
  • Establish, build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted partner from concept through completion.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff to ensure strong technical fundamentals and leadership growth.
  • Coordinate with survey, environmental, transportation, planning, and legal teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Ensure quality control, manage budgets, and track milestones for multiple projects.
  • Drive business development, identifying opportunities, leading proposals, and expanding VHB's presence in the Atlanta market.
  • Partners with Atlanta Office Leadership and Marketing Director to lead strategic pursuit decisions

What We're Looking For

  • Expertise in site design, layout, grading, hardscape, drainage, and planting
  • Knowledge of land development construction, codes, and regulations
  • Familiarity with construction materials, detailing, and specifications
  • Experience with sustainable design (LEED, Envision, low-impact design)
  • Strong design, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Proven success delivering institutional or real estate development projects
  • Strong business acumen and collaborative leadership skills
  • Existing relationships and contacts at the decision-making level

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred) and Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 8-11+ years of civil engineering experience in institutional and/or real estate land development.
  • Proven experience managing projects on time and on budget.
  • Strong technical expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Hydroflow, Microsoft Project, and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of LEED, Envision, and sustainable design practices.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • An established network of Atlanta-area contacts and a track record of generating new business opportunities.
  • Candidates shall provide a list of key project experiences detailing their specific roles and responsibilities on each project
  • Examples of work product may be requested
