Summary:

The accounting group supporting the Partnership's Refined Products Acquisition and Marketing (RPAM) group is responsible for the administration and accounting for all refined products and natural gas liquids purchase and sales activities. The Senior General Ledger Accountant position is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of RPAM GL balances and includes daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all manual journal entries posted for the RPAM butane blending activities.
  • Responsible for month end close related duties specifically around the inventory and COGS financial statement lines.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet general ledger account reconciliations, obtaining support for all entries posted to the GL accounts within the time period.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations.
  • Responsible for monthly profit share accrual calculations and true-up entries after payment has been made, coordinating with the profit share accounting team to determine the best accrual methodology.
  • Provide any ad-hoc analysis as requested by manager.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting preferred
  • Must have strong communications skills (verbal and written); and be effective in communicating, coordinating and implementing changes.
  • Must be able to identify the root cause(s) of accounting issues and be able to correctly resolve issues.
  • Strong business computer skills and the ability to learn and document processes.
  • Must be willing provide overtime hours support as necessary particularly around month-end reporting.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 8+ years of relevant job related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • MBA or CPA is a plus
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Experience in the oil/gas industry is desired, but not required

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

1. Usually, normal office working conditions.

2. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

3. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
