Summary:

The Patient Access Supervisor at Sanford Central Registration provides direct oversight of Patient Access teams responsible for functions such as Centralized Check-In/Sign-In for outpatient services, outpatient registration, ED Registration, and Admissions. At some locations, the Supervisor may also oversee switchboard services. This role requires limited travel between sites, but does not include night shifts.

The Supervisor reports to the Coastal Healthcare Alliance Patient Access Manager and provides leadership, support, and direction in applying Patient Access standards and continuous improvement principles. While overseeing staff coverage across multiple shifts, the Supervisor ensures accurate processes, data integrity, and infrastructure that support timely payment for services or alternative financial arrangements, while facilitating prompt clinical care for patients.

The Supervisor is accountable for achieving departmental financial goals and metrics each month, fostering an environment that encourages new ideas, and reinforcing staff involvement in improvement initiatives. The role develops departmental goals and objectives that align with the health system and maintains a comprehensive understanding of each function's role within the broader Revenue Cycle.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: 2 year college degree or equivalent leadership experience.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. Experience: 1-2 years in a related Healthcare Field and 1-2 years leadership experience preferred.
  4. Has the experience and analytical skills necessary to identify innovative opportunities for improvement including process redesign principles, organizing and overseeing the work of others to ensure that objectives are performed in alignment with department standards.
  5. A high level of self-activation and ability to work in a high volume, fast paced work environment requiring prioritization of multiple tasks simultaneously.
  6. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to present and explain information to customers and stakeholders. Communication skills include experience working with Microsoft Office products.
  7. Customer service experience required including training in customer service principles.
  8. Must be able to handle sensitive, stressful and confidential situations and account information.
