Job Summary The APeX Application Analyst will be primarily responsible for supporting, configuring, and optimizing Epic's Cadence module with a focus on scheduling, referrals, and self-scheduling workflows. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with Cadence build and support, along with expertise in referral management and patient self-scheduling. Given the high degree of integration with the Ambulatory Orders team, experience supporting or building Epic Ambulatory Orders workflows is strongly preferred.
This role requires strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to translate operational needs into scalable system solutions. Working under the direction of the Team Lead and/or Manager, the analyst will design, implement, and maintain application components. Responsibilities include system configuration, workflow development (including decision trees), validation of conversion data, testing, and analysis of new Epic releases for operational impact.
The analyst will serve as a key partner in identifying integrated system needs, resolving cross-application issues, and driving improvements to the patient access experience. Success in this role requires both technical acumen and a deep understanding of scheduling operations in an ambulatory care environment.
Required Certifications and Skills:
- Epic Cadence certification required
- Epic Referral & Authorization certification required
- Epic MyChart certification preferred (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Epic Decision Tree Badge preferred (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Proficiency in self-scheduling (open and direct scheduling) workflow build
- Experience supporting or building Epic Ambulatory Orders workflows, particularly in integrated referral and scheduling processes, preferred
- Ability to serve as the primary analyst for Cadence, Referrals, and self-scheduling projects, collaborating effectively across integrated Epic applications
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $102,100 - $187,600 (Annual Rate). Department Description Clinical Systems and Health Informatics are responsible for all aspects of the clinical and business software applications of UCSF Health hospitals, practices, affiliates, and community partners. This includes the Electronic Health Record (APeX), which supports the clinical, revenue cycle, and clinical operational functions of the health system and its affiliates, and approximately 95 other software applications involved in patient care and operations.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.

- Epic Cadence certification
- Epic Referral & Authorization
- 3 - 5 years related Clinical Applications experience or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Broad and/or in-depth knowledge of 1-2 areas of focus in clinical applications specialty area(s). Knowledge of systems and functions, including design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.
- Strong problem-resolution skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train, support, and work collaboratively with users of clinical information systems at all professional and technical levels.
- Detail-oriented, with proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on deadline.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical applications users in a specific, clear, and concise manner.
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge in documentation and reporting, with the ability to design and execute tests, analyze system performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses.

- Ability to work with senior staff and managers, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and performance.
