The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customersupport throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, andquality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutionsfor their most critical equipment and processes.

The impact you'll make

As a Systems Engineer at Lam, you'll design complex frameworks, systems, or products for our wafer fabrication equipment. You will define system specifications, requirements, parameters, and compatibility to integrate hardware, software, and firmware into a cohesive system. Identifying, analyzing, and resolving system design weaknesses combined with your multi-layered technical expertise you help shape the next generation of Lam initiatives.

What you'll do

Job Responsibilities

Designs a complete and complex framework, system or product. Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses. Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provides multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives.

Other Job Responsibilities

Work effectively as a member of the Systems Engineering team

Define problems and success criteria, develop solutions and define test strategies, analyze data and assess the effectiveness of the solution.

Write system and sub system requirements

Conduct system architecture analysis and developing models

Design experiments to characterize sub systems and system performance

Statistical Analysis of Variation and SPC methods

Setting Reliability and Productivity Objectives

Driving Reliability plans and improvement (IRONMAN methods)

Familiar with various etch process technology

Scope and plan projects; Ability to execute and deliver against tight time schedules.

Develop cost reduction tradeoffs, yield improvement, and cycle time reductions.

Database information management (QuickBase, JMP, Excel, etc.)

Team leadership with demonstrated ability to motivate and work with other technical resources.

Who we're looking for

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS Engineering or related Science minimum; Ph.D. or Masters preferred
  • 10 to 15 years technology/engineering experience with semiconductor fabrication products or related fields
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities with attention to detail
  • Successful track record of working within a matrix technical environment
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with Lasers and optical system design

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
