Director HLA, PRN

A Brief Overview

Directs, plans and coordinates aspects of the operation of the Clinical HLA virtual crossmatch service, ensuring
effective operation of this clinical service.

What You Will Do
* Provide coverage for the virtual crossmatch clinical service in the HLA section of Clinical Pathology.
* Participates with Medical Director, Administrative Director in setting clinical policy and practices in clinical
HLA.
* Establishes effective communication systems between the hospital patient units and the Clinical HLA Lab
for the efficient transfer of information, both urgent and regular, and on the ordering, status and result
of tests.
* Provide clinical consultation and collaboration with clinical colleagues on test interpretation and selection
* Maintain quality assurance and patient safety programs within the clinical chemistry section
* Maintain compliance with laboratory regulatory requirements
* Provide education for pathology residents, medical students, and laboratory staff

* Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for
our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to
address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
