In this position, you will perform maintenance and repair work at Fort Indiantown Gap. This will include carpentry work such as installing drop ceilings and tiles, placing roofs, installing windowpanes and air conditioners, and building a variety of structures. You will also install bathroom items and perform other plumbing work. You can expect to prepare areas before painting, install and replace electrical switches, and mix cement to repair sidewalks. As a repairman, you will maintain tools and equipment by making minor repairs, as well as maintain records of work performed. Additionally, you will maintain the grounds by completing landscaping duties and helping during the snow removal process in the winter months.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirement:

• You must maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• Any formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
• Experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades (Examples of qualifying trades include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, steamfitting/pipefitting, refrigeration/HVAC, painting, roofing/tinsmith, drywall/plasterer, and automotive mechanic work that includes performing technical duties on motors, engines, and electrical systems.)
• Experience in commercial carpentry
• Experience in the plumbing trade
• Experience working in the electrical trade field
• Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and/or HVAC systems
• Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
• Experience with 3-phase wiring to include emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears, and 3-phase panels
• Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters
• Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC), as it relates to repairs of buildings
• Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
