DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will develop a strong proficiency in using computers and laptops, complemented by specialized training in air conditioning service for various equipment. This role will allow you to demonstrate your teamwork skills, reliability, and commitment to safety in a professional environment. As part of your training, you will enhance your communication abilities while learning to conduct thorough inspections, execute repairs, and implement preventative maintenance across a diverse array of machinery. You will utilize laptops for diagnostic tasks and collaborate closely with certified mechanics to address air conditioning system repairs. Effective communication with fellow mechanics, operators, and garage office personnel will be essential to relay critical information regarding equipment maintenance and repairs. It is important to adhere to scheduled work hours and break times, comply with safety regulations, and consistently wear the provided personal protective equipment (PPE). Additionally, you will support Diesel Mechanics in troubleshooting and resolving a variety of issues related to chassis, driveline, engine, electrical systems, and suspension work across different types of equipment. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Work schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location
- Senior enrolled in High School 2025-2026 - The internship can be through the 2025-2026 school year, up until 6/30/2026.
- Junior enrolled in High School 2025-2026 - The internship can be through the 2025-2026 school year, summer 2026, and 2026-2027 school year.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- You must be at least 16 years of age at time of hire.
- You must be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2025 - 2026 school year.
- You must be a traditional high school student or student in a vo-tech curriculum related to mechanical and/or automotive trades.
- Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
Additional Requirements:
- Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.
- By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
