THE POSITION

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Park Maintenance Worker to join our team at Reeds Gap State Park Complex. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining the beauty, safety, and functionality of our park and recreational areas. This position requires a strong commitment to outdoor work in various weather conditions and the ability to operate various tools and equipment safely and effectively. Your contributions will significantly enhance the park's environment and improve the overall experience for visitors, making this an excellent opportunity for those who take pride in maintaining our state's recreational facilities.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Park Maintenance Worker, your role will involve a range of responsibilities, including light carpentry, plumbing, and the maintenance of park grounds and facilities. You will be tasked with cleaning sanitary facilities in areas such as picnic spots, campgrounds, family cabins, and boating zones, utilizing tools like brooms, mops, scrub buckets, and disinfectants to meet park standards. Additionally, you will install amenities such as fire rings, lantern hangers, picnic grills, and park benches, which may require hand digging and mixing concrete for proper setup. Your duties will also include assisting skilled tradespeople with construction tasks, as well as performing repairs and maintenance on pool equipment, park water systems, and sewage treatment facilities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2026.
  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hours per week to include weekends and holidays if needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
