THE POSITION

Fort Washington State Park and Evansburg State Park Complex is on the lookout for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Semi-Skilled Laborer. This essential position plays a crucial role in ensuring that our park facilities and grounds remain clean, functional, and visually appealing. The ideal candidate will engage in a diverse range of tasks that not only support the daily operations of the park but also significantly enhance the overall experience for our visitors. By contributing to the upkeep and maintenance of the park, the selected individual will help create a welcoming environment that encourages exploration and enjoyment of the natural beauty that Fort Washington State Park and Evansburg State Park Complex has to offer.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The primary responsibilities of this role encompass a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks essential for the upkeep of park facilities. Routine cleaning duties involve ensuring that restrooms, visitor centers, picnic pavilions, and offices are maintained to a high standard of hygiene through activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and sanitizing surfaces. Additionally, the role includes preparing surfaces for painting and applying protective coatings to various structures, including buildings, picnic tables, benches, and fences, to enhance their appearance and prevent deterioration. Minor repairs and maintenance tasks are also part of the job, which may include fixing broken fixtures, patching drywall, addressing minor plumbing leaks, and resolving other non-specialized maintenance issues. Furthermore, the position requires assisting with general park maintenance activities, such as light landscaping, trail upkeep, and the assembly or repair of park amenities. Safe operation and maintenance of hand tools and power equipment, including pressure washers and paint sprayers, are crucial for executing these tasks effectively. Lastly, adherence to all park safety policies and procedures is mandatory, with a responsibility to promptly report any significant maintenance concerns or safety hazards to a supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hrs. per week to include weekends and holidays if needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
