POSITION TITLE: Staff Scientist

POSITION SUMMARY: The Janda lab is looking for a Staff Scientist to carry out extensive synthetic research that will entail the synthesis of complex carbohydrates to be used as new adjuvants for our vaccine against drugs of abuse program. The Staff Scientist will also work on a second project using chemoproteomics to investigate a new methamphetamine-constrained scaffold. This research will use both synthesis as well as immunology and neurobiology to conduct the work. To complement the research, the Staff Scientist will also be involved in writing grants.

RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Design of synthetic molecules
  • Preparation of synthetic molecules
  • Perform ELISA
  • Conduct surface plasma resonance spectroscopy
  • Radiolabeling of molecules
  • Design and testing of behavioral models for antinociception and respiratory depression
  • Design research questions and experimental protocols
  • Collaborate with other researchers to discuss findings, develop new projects and writing manuscripts.


REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ph.D. in an appropriate scientific discipline required. Minimum of 2 years postdoctoral experience.
  • The specific skills and experience for each position should be provided by the Principal Investigator in the requisition.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position works in an office environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

LOCATION: La Jolla, California

COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $78,000 to $90,272 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
