Reporting to the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Program Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life Operations will support daily operations of FSL, co-advise student councils, lead signature events, and oversee initiatives that foster leadership, community engagement, and academic excellence. This part-time, one-year appointment requires 20 hours per week during the fall (August - December) and spring (January - May) academic terms, primarily during standard business hours, with occasional evening or weekend shifts to support department or student organization needs or events. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to): Essential Duties: Council & Chapter Support
- Support operations of all Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) governing councils; attend meetings and events as assigned by the Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life.
- Serve as the primary advisor for the Order of Omega Greek Honor Society.
- Support chapter and council leaders through training, resources, and ongoing mentorship.
- Collaborate with Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life on chapter and council budget management, including purchasing card reconciliation, expense tracking and receipt collection.
Program Development & Implementation
- Design, facilitate, and implement major Fraternity & Sorority Life programs, initiatives, and trainings (in-person and virtual).
- Collaborate on chapter development processes, educational campaigns, and special events.
- Support student attendance and supervision at regional and national leadership conferences.
Communication & Marketing
- Mentor and collaborate with the Fraternity & Sorority Life Specialist in executing marketing, communications, and data tracking tasks.
- Oversee Fraternity & Sorority Life social media strategy, ensuring consistent branding and engagement.
- Develop and distribute a bi-monthly Fraternity & Sorority Life newsletter highlighting achievements, updates, and trends.
- Maintain and update Fraternity & Sorority Life web content across platforms (Canvas, WordPress, SharePoint).
Data Management & Assessment
- Maintain chapter membership rosters and communication lists including distribution of follow-up correspondence.
- Manage data in the student information system (SIS), Colleague by Ellucian.
- Oversee the Points of Pride Chapter Development Program, including data collection, verification, reporting and Canvas course modification.
- Contribute to assessment initiatives, dashboard analysis, and annual report development.
Team Collaboration & Supervision
- Mentor and collaborate with the Fraternity & Sorority Life Specialist in ensuring alignment with departmental goals and learning outcomes.
- Participate in regular supervision, departmental, divisional, and committee meetings.
- Provide supervision of undergraduate students at regional and national leadership conference, if applicable during designated academic terms.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with department team members with the planning and execution of signature campus events (e.g., Student Involvement Fairs, Student Leadership Awards, Organization Leadership Retreats) and other office or campus initiatives.
- Provide support for occasional late-night and weekend Fraternity & Sorority Life or department-sponsored programs.
- Represent the Office of Student Engagement at University recruitment events (e.g., Widener Days and Admitted Student Days).
- Collaborate with campus partners to develop inclusive social, educational, and cultural programming.
- Deliver excellent customer service by interpreting and communicating student organization policies.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed in support of the Office of Student Engagement and the division of Student Engagement & Transformation.
Scope & Complexity of the Position:
- Decision Making: Responsibilities are primarily focused on daily tasks, with limited decision-making authority.
- Autonomy: The role requires the ability to plan and execute tasks independently, demonstrating sound judgment, discretion, and initiative without close supervision.
- Leadership: May coordinate or lead a team of student employees as needed, and may be asked to provide input on their performance.
- Confidentiality: Occasionally handles sensitive or confidential information.
- Planning: Requires a general understanding of upcoming work and projects, along with moderate planning and organizational skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required): Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs or related field or an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in fraternity and sorority life programming in a university setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), social media platforms, and web-based communication tools.
- Proficient in written, verbal and interpersonal communications with the ability to communicate effectively in person and through electronic or telephone communication with all stakeholders of the University (faculty, staff and students) in a high-volume office.
- Ability to learn and navigate the technical aspects of web-based software systems.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or College Personnel Administration or a related field.
- Membership in a fraternity or sorority (North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO), National Asian Pacific Islander American Panhellenic Association (NAPA), National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC, etc.).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
- Able to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Licensed and capable of driving university-owed vans to transport students to events.
- Comfortable with frequent walking, standing and climbing stairs.
- Demonstrates strong manual dexterity for handling various tasks.
- Able to move efficiently between workstations and other buildings across campus.
- Occasional travel is required in support of the Office of Student Engagement programs and events.
