Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for a dedicated Surgical Technologist 1 to join the OR team. This role will be full-time working four 10 hour shifts (0645-1715) M-F, variable day off, on-call requirement for nights, weekends, and holidays. Job Responsibilities:



  • The Surgical Technologist 1 demonstrates knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts.
  • Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, which includes passing instruments, sutures, and other items appropriate to the procedure.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform the role of the first scrub on all basic surgical cases.
  • Selects proper sterilization method of instruments/equipment; sterilizes before procedures, as necessary, and verifies instruments as sterile.
  • Demonstrates the application of the principles of aseptic technique.
  • Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on the scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Certification: Basic Life Support from American Heart Association required upon start.
  • License: Registered Surgical Technologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Surgical Technologist required upon start


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Recent Hospital experience and/or previous practice experience.
