DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Legal Assistant 1, you will perform varied legal clerical work in the Order Entry Section of the PUC's Secretary's Bureau, requiring typing skills to process a variety of documents. You will review and analyze Orders, Secretarial Letters, and Initial and Recommended Decisions to determine the necessary action that must be taken for the proceeding. As a team member, you will make sure documents are in the correct format, proper grammar, and have accurate information. There will be opportunities to exercise independent judgment when reviewing requests, determining proper service, action that is needed, and distributing required documents. This professional communicates with staff, attorneys, utilities, and consumers as needed. Work also involves retrieving, searching and updating case files for accuracy. Workflow varies in quantity and must be completed on a timely basis to provide effective information for Commission use. Specifically, orders must be served timely to meet statutory requirements.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: Part-time work from home (telework) may be a potential feature of this position. The successful candidate is required to report to the headquarters worksite daily, unless the employee meets eligibility requirements and telework has been approved. Management may discontinue any telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
- To be eligible to participate in telework, the employee's alternate (telework) worksite must meet the following requirements:
- Within a reasonable travel distance of Harrisburg; and
- Within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement or investigative work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
