DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Plumber at Fort Indiantown Gap, you will engage in a diverse range of skilled and semi-skilled plumbing tasks essential to the facility's operations. Your responsibilities will include the installation of new water lines and fire hydrants, ensuring that these systems are functional and compliant with safety standards. Additionally, you will be involved in the fabrication and maintenance of manholes, which are critical for access to underground utilities. Your role will also encompass the upkeep, repair, and replacement of both above-ground and underground water mains and sewer lines throughout the installation, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the plumbing infrastructure. This position requires a keen attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship in all plumbing activities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is considered essential. You will be required to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Possession of a valid PA DEP Class E (Water) Certification
  • Completion of formal training in the plumbing trade
  • Previous experience as a plumber
  • Previous experience in the operation, maintenance, and/or repair of water main breaks and the sanitizing of water mains due to main breaks
  • Previous experience in the maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of underground water mains and/or sewage lines
  • Previous experience in the installation and/or connection of service lines to water or sewage mains
  • Previous experience working in hazardous conditions such as confined space, electrical currents, or chemical exposure
