Position Summary

The Senior Manager of Academic Transfer Programs is a forward-thinking advocate for student-centered success and holistic well-being. This position reports to the Associate Vice Provost, Articulation, Transfer, and Educational Policy and provides administrative leadership for Dallas College's Ascender Program and other internal or external academic transfer initiatives.

The Senior Manager will oversee the planning and coordination of Dallas College's Ascender Program student cohort activities, including orientation, application, enrollment, transition, and campus engagement. This role also involves leading continuous improvement efforts in program management, student success, faculty support, and monitoring student enrollment and progress through program completion. Strong program or project management skills and experience working with multiple stakeholders to achieve program goals and outcomes are essential. The ideal candidate will be an innovative problem solver with a collaborative management style that fosters teamwork, supports a student-centered learning environment, and actively provides support across multiple departments.

Requires a dynamic understanding of relevant laws and policies. Ability to independently analyze problems, search for strategic solutions, and organize and influence individuals to meet the vision, mission, and goals of the organization and Dallas College. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision, policies, and procedures of Dallas College. The ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges that arise because of Dallas College's current transformation.
  • Provides oversight and accountability for the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Dallas College Ascender Program, including recruitment, enrollment, learning community development through academic leadership and faculty support, data reporting, and continuous improvement to achieve goals.
  • Ability to manage complex projects; plan and evaluate processes or programs; examine and re-engineer operations; recommend policy; develop and implement new strategies and procedures. Ability to support strategic direction by identifying actions necessary to complete the task(s) and obtain results meeting timelines, budget, performance goals, etc. Able to collaborate with internal leadership and/or stakeholders (including but not limited to Student Success, Academic Deans, Department Chairs, Marketing, and others) regarding ways to improve the organization's functionality in the student's best interest.
  • Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and work effectively across internal and external stakeholders in ways that promote the best interest of all. Ability to sustain and improve the work environment in the face of change and environmental challenges. Understands and effectively manages group dynamics and ambiguity; maintains confidentiality; acts ethically and with integrity.
  • Ability to seek ways to proactively improve organizational processes and outcomes by objectively evaluating different components and aspects of a situation, maintaining a balance between the goals of the organization and those of the college. Recommends policy/procedural changes with leadership to support business needs. Demonstrated experience working with and leading a variety of student and staff populations in academic programs, student success initiatives, or related projects.
  • Preferred experience in leading large, cross-functional teams or supervising staff, student employees, and/or interns.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics Leadership & Implementation

  • Leads the coordination of Dallas College personnel in planning student cohort activities, including orientation, application, enrollment, transition, and campus engagement.
  • Coordinates cohort progress and pathway monitoring with success coaches, the pathways success team, faculty, and administrators. Communicate necessary changes or resolutions to the Dean and other appropriate leadership across Dallas College.
  • Manages processes for monitoring cohort enrollment status and ensure timely communication with relevant college personnel. Plan for cohort transitions from semester to semester and through program completion.
  • Oversees course requests and rosters to ensure accurate student enrollment and appropriate hand-offs to designated Dallas College personnel. Collaborate with staff to manage survey administration and data collection.

Enrollment Management & Faculty Support

  • Coordinates and enhances program enrollment management processes in collaboration with Academic Deans, Department Chairs, the Academic Scheduling and Data Analytics (ASDA) Team, Student Success and Enrollment Management teams, and Information Technology.
  • Partners with leadership teams to develop workflows and technology solutions that improve enrollment efficiency across all seven campuses.
  • Collaborates with Student Success Coaches and faculty to implement support strategies for learning community courses.
  • Leads and actively participate in college task forces, committees, and instructional schools to promote Ascender Learning Community engagement and success.
  • Cultivates and maintain relationships with campuses, instructional schools, and external partners to support student success. Facilitate campus-wide discussions on learning communities, including relevant theories, models, and practices.

Student Engagement and Support for Transfer and Career Development

  • Collaborates with Student Life to identify engagement opportunities for Ascender students and oversee large-scale events such as Family Night/Noche de Familia and the End of Year Celebration/Celebracion.
  • Works with the Career and Transfer Skills Development team to support student leadership development, mentoring, and on-campus job placement as needed.
  • Partners with marketing and student success personnel to create and distribute communication materials to current program participants.
  • Plans and manages large-scale programming, such as Noche de Familia, while engaging the Dallas College community in events, needs, and opportunities related to the Ascender program.

Progress & Completion Reporting

  • Coordinates the initial development and annual updates of Ascender Program cohort progress and completion metrics.
  • Develops systems to monitor academic progress for each cohort and recommend improvements to support successful program completion.
  • Collaborates with Strategic Analytics to produce reports for internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Works with Academic Deans, Department Chairs, and faculty to identify and support students requiring additional academic assistance.
  • Completes required Dallas College professional development training hours annually.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in higher education (preferably within community colleges) focused on student development, special populations or programs, or other related areas.
  • Current and valid Texas driver's license is required.
  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency preferred.
  • Official transcript will be required.
