To succeed as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with prior internship, co-op, or work experience in a refining or petrochemical manufacturing environment.
  • Solid experience supporting static and/or rotating equipment, with familiarity in maintenance, reliability, risk assessment, Management of Change, and structured problem-solving.
  • Awareness of industry codes and standards applicable to the refining and petrochemical industries.
  • Solid troubleshooting, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting to 25 lbs, climbing ladders, walking long distances, and occasional extended hours, with legal authorization to work in the U.S.

 

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will:

  • Operations Support & Field Evaluation: Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to resolve day-to-day equipment issues, conduct routine field walkthroughs, and support stabilization after operational upsets.
  • Technical Delivery & Equipment Management: Own the health and performance of static and rotating equipment, ensure compliance with industry standards, and implement asset care strategies and process safety recommendations.
  • Critical Work Processes: Lead Threats and Opportunities (MTO), Management of Change (MOC), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Maintenance Execution (ME) initiatives to optimize mechanical equipment performance.
  • Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement: Investigate mechanical failures, identify root causes, implement robust solutions, and leverage Lean methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Project & Business Planning Support: Contribute to multi-year maintenance plans, prioritize mechanical equipment improvements, support turnaround activities, and coordinate project execution with stakeholders to ensure reliability and cost-effective outcomes.

PEMEX Deer Park is a highly complex refinery located 18 miles east of Houston in Deer Park, TX. It is part of the Pemex group, a fully integrated oil company in the Americas, working across the entire value chain: exploration, production, industrial processing/refining, logistics, and marketing. The refinery’s rated capacity is 340,000 barrels per day and has the feed flexibility to process multiple grades of crudes to produce the high-quality transportation fuels the world needs. The Pemex site is co-located with other 3rd party chemical facilities, allowing for further integration and optimization of the refinery and its products.
