Farnsworth Group is seeking a Surveying Technician I in one of the below posting locations. In this role, the survey technician works primarily as an entry-level member of a Land Surveying Field Crew to complete various activities associated with mapping the earth's surface for transportation, energy, land development, oil & gas, and construction-related projects.

Job Activities:


  • Assists in the preparation of surveying drawings as assigned.
  • Prepares basic detailed drawings from field data and field sketches using computer-aided drafting software platforms
  • Completes redlines, drawing modifications and basic calculations with specific instructions
  • Adheres to company and client standard CAD procedures for data processing, formatting, and producing drawings and sheet layouts
  • Maintains schedules and communicates progress on a daily basis.
  • Undertakes company mandated trainings to increase skill and ability.
  • Exercises limited judgment in the execution of surveying deliverables.


Specific Requirements include:


  • Valid US driver's license & good driving record
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to operate in a mentor / mentee Team atmosphere
  • Ability to understand and operate current & new technology
  • Safety oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive and collaborative work ethic.
  • Experience with MS Office products (Word & Excel)


Desired Qualifications Include:


  • 0 -2 years previous surveying experience
  • Basic understanding of land surveying and geometry.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD C3D, Microstation ORD and/or ArcGIS software
  • CST1 (certified survey technician level 1) certification.
  • Interest in Aerial Drone and 3D Point Cloud scanning technology.


Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:


  • Primarily an office position, ability to work outside on projects if needed.
  • Ability to work in various terrain & weather conditions and recognize safety
  • Requires the ability to work on multi-discipline projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to use a computer and work in an office environment.

Salary Range: $19 - 28 per hour (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
