The Opportunity

The Hazy Library and Learning Center (https://hazylibrary.erau.edu) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona seeks a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative Collections Management and Research Librarian. This professional staff position, reporting to the Associate Library Director for Technologies and Information Resources, provides leadership for the planning, developing, assessing, analyzing, and deselection of print library collections and information resources. We welcome a new team member who will manage collections, build strong relationships with faculty and staff, support student learning outcomes, teaching, scholarship, and research to promote academic success.

Duties include serving as chair of the Information Management Committee, comprised of librarian subject liaisons. Track book allocations and expenditures for subject disciplines and provides analytics and reports. Conducts library research consultations, including evening hours in rotation with other librarians, in support of student, faculty, and staff scholarship and learning. Serves as a subject specialist liaison to assigned academic departments and is responsible for collection development supporting the curriculum and research needs in those subject areas. Develops and delivers library research instruction through collaboration with faculty and librarians, designed for the diverse information literacy needs of students, faculty, and staff. Promotes library outreach and engagement by serving on library, campus, and university committees.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science
  • Experience or knowledge with collection development
  • Knowledge of current issues and trends in library collection development
  • Competencies with management tools (Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, Access, SQL); strong statistical, analytical and evaluation skills.
  • Strong service orientation and ability to work well with a wide variety of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with and comprehensive knowledge of Alma or other Integrated Library System.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

  • Academic Library experience.
  • Experience or knowledge of reference and research assistance.
  • Experience or knowledge of academic library instruction.
  • Proven success with project management.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and planning.
  • Experience with coordinating teams.
