The User Experience Designer is expected to design the overall functionality of the product to ensure a great user experience and iterate upon it in accordance with user-testing.

Position allows flexible remote schedule working from home office with travel to corporate office as needed. Employee must reside in the Meijer six state footprint OR be willing to relocate to MI, IL, IN, OH, KY or WI for consideration. Fully remote requests outside of our footprint will NOT be considered.

Position is NOT eligible for visa sponsorship.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Translate business requirements and concepts through graphic design and creative vision into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive multimedia user experiences.
    • Work collaboratively with product owners, developers, and QA to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience
    • Conceptualize original ideas that bring visual and design simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
  • Facilitate the product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products.
    • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
    • Identify design problems, technical limitations and devise elegant solutions.
  • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
  • Conceive and Conduct multimedia user research and evaluate user feedback
    • Assess and optimize the performance of new and existing features by actively participating in usability testing
    • Conduct interviews and surveys, and incorporate into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes.
    • Take a user-centered design (UCD) approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards
    • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art, Graphic Design, UI Design or other related field
  • 2 or more years of experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with proficiency in Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator or other visual design and wire-framing tools
  • Practical experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment desired
  • Proven user experience design experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing complex solutions for complete digital environments.
  • A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
  • Experience in using user experience design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
  • User Interface design experience with Web applications (Native mobile is a plus)
  • Solid understanding of current mobile and desktop patterns
  • Excellent communication (verbal and presentational) interpersonal skills along with the ability to collaborate across multiple business units
  • Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Be passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.

The pay range for this position is listed below.

$77,000.00 - $118,000.00

This pay range represents the minimum and maximum base pay for the position, which is determined by factors such as market data, the qualifications required, the level of responsibilities associated with the role and other roles at this same level. Your specific pay rate within this range will be based on your experience, qualifications, and skills compared to the internal team you'll be joining.
