Position Highlights |
The University of Arizona's Geosciences invites you to apply to the role of Research Professional I. The researcher will help with conducting data analysis and background research to understand geochemical and mineralogic reactions associated with subsurface carbon storage. The researcher will also assist with compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data from experiments, for modeling, publication, and reporting. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Help compile, analyze, and model data and experimental results; compile data from multiple published and unpublished studies, perform statistical analyses, prepare reports, and assist with writing reports.
- Assist in development of grant applications and publications.
- Assist in coordinating geochemical analyses of samples from outside laboratories.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to plan and modify experimental work based on unpredictable results and sample behavior.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety.
- Ability to collaborate with others in multimodal analytical work and interdisciplinary interpretations.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelors degree in Geological Sciences or related field
|
Preferred Qualifications |
- Masters Degree or PhD
- 2-4 years experience with XRD/Rietveld-refinement, ICP-MS, geochemical analysis of rocks, liquids.
- Experience with chemical leaching of rocks by acids, bases, and pyrolysis bio-oil and chemical reactions between lixiviants and rocks.

The Rate of Pay Field represents the University of Arizona's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The University considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal equity. The grade range for this position is $22.77 - $34.15. Each unit typically sets starting pay between the minimum and midpoint upon hire as reflected in the Rate of Pay field above. |
