The Geriatric Health Services Research Lab (GHSRL) within the Department of Kinesiology at UW-Madison is dedicated to conducting meaningful research aimed at improving the quality of care and life for older adults and their family caregivers or care partners.

The Research Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of lab operations and research projects to ensure compliance, efficiency, and successful outcomes. This position works closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), research team members, and study participants, playing a key role in managing study logistics and supporting research dissemination efforts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and managing all research activities and projects as designated by the PI.

  • Supporting the development, preparation, and submission of scientific grants.

  • Preparing, editing, and submitting IRB applications, including reportable events and ongoing compliance documentation.

  • Scheduling and conducting focus groups, interviews, and other participant-related research activities.

  • Recruiting, screening, enrolling, and tracking study participants.

  • Collecting, organizing, securely storing, and managing research data.

  • Conducting and supporting data analysis and interpretation.

  • Assisting with manuscript preparation and review for peer-reviewed publications.

  • Creating presentations and research materials for conferences, webinars, and other dissemination events.

  • Collaborating with lab members and students to maintain an inclusive, organized, and productive research environment.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the development, coordination, and facilitation of trainings and workshops for internal and external audiences to disseminate research program developments and information
  • Plans, develops, and implements processes and protocols to support research aims
  • Monitors program budget(s) and approves unit expenditures
  • Develops policies, procedures, and institutional agreements on behalf of the program
  • Coordinates the daily activities and contracts related to one or more research program(s)
  • Serves as a unit liaison and subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholder groups, collaborates across disciplines and functional areas, provides program information, and promotes the accomplishments and developments of scholars and research initiatives

The Geriatric Health Services Research Lab within the Department of Kinesiology conducts meaningful research which aims to enhance the quality of care and life of both older adults and their friend or family care givers and care partners.

Compensation:

Minimum: $65,000 annually

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund.

FTE Range .5 - 1.0

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience coordinating research studies or managing research activities, including human subjects research.

  • Knowledge of research ethics and experience with IRB processes and protocols.

  • Proficiency with research data management, including data collection, organization, and storage.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and other research-related documents.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail

  • Previous experience supporting grant applications and submissions.

  • Background in developing or reviewing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using research platforms such as REDCap, Qualtrics, or similar data collection systems.

  • Knowledge of geriatric health, caregiving, or related health research areas.

  • Experience with study recruitment, screening, and enrollment of research participants.

  • Familiarity with statistical software or basic data analysis techniques.

  • Experience creating research presentations and materials for conferences, webinars, or outreach events.

  • Previous experience managing or coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree-Preferred
