Job Description

Job Objective: The Area Manager owns service operations for their assigned area with direct responsibility for service execution while leading a dispersed team across geographies and cross-functional groups. The successful candidate is responsible for interacting with technicians, departmental teams and sales personnel to coordinate job scheduling activities to meet customer order requirements, as well as, building a continuous improvement culture, using our continuous improvement tools to drive Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost excellence.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities: In addition to the essential job functions described below, all associates will perform duties as requested by management. Assigned responsibilities and duties may vary based upon location size and operation.



Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Provides support and technical advice to cross functional teams. Assists team with technical problem resolution in support of customer service objectives.


  • Responsible for team training and development.


  • Develop workforce forecast for respective team to support work across service lines.


  • Demonstrate leadership to team by living company values.



Field Services Support:



  • Drive process improvement activities across designated service area(s) and coordinates with peers to share improvement best practices regionally and nationally.


  • Able to relate and communicate well to stakeholders at all levels.


  • Responsible for service operations including service contracts, revenue targets based on bookings, emergency service, field-quoted work, renewals and warranty.


  • Develop and maintain programs, initiatives, and metrics, including financials, quality, growth and Safety.


  • Ensures alignment in strategic growth initiatives / objectives.


  • Maintains area service schedule, including detailed planning to meet customer specifications and timelines.


  • Collaborates with Project Leaders and other Area Service Managers to ensure project leadership and technician support before, during, and after project work.




Financial Acumen:



  • Possess financial acumen necessary to track and audit costs to target EBIT.


  • Proactively identifies service revenue growth opportunities and cost savings opportunities.


  • Drive accountability in job cost control.


  • Maintain profit targets in area strategic accounts.



Knowledge Skills & Abilities Requirements



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business or engineering recommended. MBA preferred, but not required. Relevant work experience (~ 7+ years of total experience in industrial service management) will be considered commensurate experience.


  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience. or Proven ability to relate and communicate well to stakeholders at all levels, whether field technicians or executive leadership.


  • Valid driver's license required


  • Travel on an as needed basis (+/- 20% of the year)


  • Available to support on-going 24/7 operations



Physical Requirements:



  • Vision: minimum vision required to prevent injury from oneself and others


  • Hearing: perceiving the nature of sounds with or without correction


  • Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word


  • Lifting small weighed objects constantly; 20-pound objects frequently and 25-50-pound objects occasionally


  • Climbing ladders, stairs and ramps


  • Balancing, pushing and pulling


  • Crouching, kneeling, reaching and grasping objects


  • Walking: move about inside the office and/or branch facilities as well as airport/travel needs


  • Sit/Stand: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time


  • Capable of traveling as required
